Privacy Statement Hotel D'Hofstee
1. Privacy in accordance with Belgian privacy-law. 1.1. Introduction. Designating applicable laws. Throughout the web, data are collected about website visitors (you provide these data when you purchase on line, when you subscribe to a newsletter, when you subscribe to a forum, et cetera...). Most of the website builders are still ignoring local and European privacy laws. Nevertheless the Belgian Privacy law (Wet tot bescherming van de persoonlijke levenssfeer) december 8th, 1992 points out very clearly some measures with regard to the internet. Hotel-Restaurant D'Hofstee makes every effort to apply these laws rigorous. The privacy act 1992 provides strict conditions for gathering information about personal data on the internet. Not only is this the case for Belgium, but also for all European countries, members of the EU. As such, the Belgian law was recently adapted in accordance with the European directive of 1995 to protect personal data. On which locations D'Hofstee is gathering your data? Hotel-Restaurant D'Hofstee is only gathering personal data when you subscribe for the newsletter (the data in this case are limited to your name and email address; at this point the newsletter database is not yet on line) or when you make reservations. Plain correspondence (either via mail, or via letters) will NOT be used for processing your personal data in view of the privacy-act, unless this correspondence is about the subscription to our newsletter or about making reservations. 1.3. Who collects the personal data and who processes them? The data are to be stored in a first stage on the servers where our website is hosted. These data are only accessable for the manager of D'Hofstee and are protected by passwords. Later on, the data are stored on the PC of the manager, separated from the computers connected to the internet. Thus, the data are to be collected by Nicolaas CHEYNS, Parklaan 14, 8210 LOPPEM. Moreover, the data are only processed by him personally. What is the aim for the processing of personal data? D'Hofstee will only use your data a) for dealing with bookings and reservations; b) for providing our newsletter on the email address the client gave us; c) for direct marketing purposes only by D'Hofstee and only with regard to the professional activities of D'Hofstee. In NO CASE, D'Hofstee will provide these data to third parties for whatever reason, except in the cases that D'Hofstee would be legally required to do so. 1.5. Customer rights. The customer always has the right to oppose the processing of his personal data. Among others, this means that the customer who procured his data in order to make a booking/reservation may demand that these data will not be processed for purposes of direct marketing or for purpose of sending a newsletter. The customer who procured his data in order to subscribe the newsletter may demand that his data will not be processed for purposes of direct marketing other than sending the newsletter. The customer will always be answered within reasonable time that his data will not be processed in any other way than the customer desires. The customer has a right to access his data. Security measures. The email addresses and the names of the customers, in case the customer subscribes for the newsletter, are to be stored in a database on the servers of our hosting provider. These data will be kept in a "virtual folder" and are protected with a password. Only the processor of these data, above mentioned, has the knowledge of this password. The personal data, collected when the customer makes a booking/reservation are to be reversed in an email which is sent by our servers (of our hosting provider) to the processor of these data (above mentioned). These mails later on are to be stored on the PC of the processor, on a hard disk, completely kept separated from the internet (and having as such no connection to the internet). 2. Additonal privacy guarantees on line. 2.1. Cookies. Hotel-Restaurant D'Hofstee DOES NOT MAKE ANY USE of cookies. The majority of professional website builders are using little pieces of information to be placed on your computer automatically when visiting a website. D'Hofstee refuses to do so and preferres more user-friendly solutions. 2.2. Log-files. Hotel-Restaurant D'Hofstee promises NOT TO COLLECT INFORMATION concerning your surfing behavior. Of course, we do have minimal software we use to register your visit to our website, but in a limited way, so that D'Hofstee uses "Webalizer 2.01" to register the number of "hits", the number of "files" applied for, the number of "pages" applied for and the number of "visits", and this per hour, per day and per month. Also, we register the response codes (e.g. "OK" or"Internal server error"), the visited web addresses on our site, the "entry-pages" and the"exit-pages", the IP-numbers of the visiting hosts and the technical specifications of the browser you use to visit our website. In NO CASE this information is to be analysed so we can discover which computer corresponds to whatever IP-address. Nor we use the information to reconstruct the surfing session by our customer. D'Hofstee WILL NEVER use the collected data to match the IP-address to fysical data (such as your email address). In NO CASE these log-files informations are to be kept by D'HOFSTEE longer than six months, either in a digital or analogue appearance. 3. Additonal privacy guarantees off line. 3.1. Hotel-Restaurant D'Hofstee does not deal in data of customers. For no reason whatsoever, D'Hofstee will provide personal data of its customers to third parties unless D'Hofstee would be legally forced to do so. 3.2. Private and discrete parking. Dhofstee has an enormous parking on the frontside of the complex. Besides this parking, D'Hofstee provides also the possibility of using a more discrete parking on the backside of the complex.
